The Guys of Primary Interviews: Adam from Teachers Learn Too!

Wow, it's hard to believe that we're already in the month of May. The Guys of Primary are excited to bring you some exclusive interviews for you to get to know us a little better.

Hello everyone, it's Chad here from the Male Kindergarten Teacher blog. Today I am excited to interview Adam from Teachers Learn Too. Adam is a kindergarten teacher in Illinois. I've got my microphone and my questions so let's get started.

  1. Why did you decide to become a teacher?
After working one summer in high school as a camp counselor, I knew working with kids was my calling!

  1. What do you do in your spare time to relax? Hobbies? Volunteer work?
I'm a good old fashioned family man!  We have two kids that we spend our time with and I'm loving every minute of being a dad!  I also write, dabble in photography, and play the guitar!

  1. Would you recommend teaching as a career to your students?
Of course!

  1. What does you like most about teaching? Least?
Seeing the smiles that come through my door each morning, and hearing “I LOVE SCHOOL!” are my favorites!  The thing I like the least are the expectations being pushed down upon our little ones.

  1. If you weren’t a teacher, what job would you like to have? Why?
I think I'd either be a children's book author or musician.  I love being creative!

  1. What is the best part about being a male in a field of predominantly females?
No lines in the bathroom at conferences!  I'm dead serious.  Haha!

  1. What is your classroom or teaching philosophy?
I love creating a fun, learn-through-play atmosphere where kids feel welcomed and don't really even know they're learning!

Thanks Adam for taking the time to answer these questions! Be sure to follow Adam and check out his amazing vlogs!

  1. I think it is very important to have men in early education as they are the only male in many of our students lives. Good for you guys!
