Teacher Resolutions With The Guys Of Primary

Hello!!!  It's Mr. Greg from The Kindergarten Smorgasboard!

Today I want to share my teacher resolutions with you!!

Resolution 1:  Keep it simple!

I'm going to keep my lessons and activities simple!  Simple for me.  Simple for the kids.

But simple doesn't mean they're not going to be rigorous, engaging lessons.   They're just going to be simple.  I plan to use more videos, Google Earth, simple costumes and plain ole' silliness to make effective, engaging, rigorous lessons full of content and heavy on the fun!

Resolution 2:  Organize all the things!

I started the year by organizing all of my center/hippopotamus/workstation materials in my big new closet.  That made me feel so good.    And now I've organized the crayons and markers in our classroom.  Feels so good.

So my plan is to do more organizing to keep myself sane make teaching easier.

I mean, how many of us have something for a lesson or activity and when it comes time for said lesson or activity....BAM!   The stuff is missing and you find it 3 days later!

Resolution 3:  LET IT GO!

No more perfectionism!

I am so hard on myself when it comes to teaching and my classroom (as our all teachers!).

Seriously.  I question and second guess everything.  Sometimes, I third and fourth guess.

I'm never happy with how things went.  I always feel it was a failure.  I always feel it could have been so much better.

I want it to be perfect.

But I know it will never be perfect and even the best laid plans...well....I teach 5 year olds so our plans generally fall part within the first 10 minutes of the day!

AND THAT IS OK!!!!!!!

I resolve to let it go and be ok with things not being perfect.

And not everything has to be Pinterest worthy and beautiful and perfect!

What are you teacher resolutions?

Finally, The Guys Of Primary is GROWING!!!!  We are adding a new dude to our dude ranch!   Stay tuned for our next post to see who our newest guy will be!!!!

Any guesses?
